It is not possible to forget the contribution of the Latur district in this struggle, whether it was the story of the bravery of removing Nizam's 'Asafzai' flag flying on the historic village Ganjgolai of Latur and hoisting the tricolour there. The battle with the Razakars in many places like Aurad, Nilanga, Hodoli, Botkul, Hattibet, Ramghat, Ambulga, Tondchir, Devani, Valandi, Bolegaon, Ghonsi, Tiruka, Kaulkhed, and many other places should be written in golden letters. The Maharashtra Parishad played an important role in the Marathwada liberation struggle. The second and sixth sessions of that conference were held in Latur. The Arya Samaj had a great influence in this area. Many freedom fighters from Village Nilanga actively participated in the freedom movement of Marathwada. Regarding the sacrifices of freedom fighters, a martyr memorial was established at Nagar Parishad Nilanga in the Latur district. Martyr Narsing Vamanrao Bhatambrarekar resident of village Nilanga, Martyr Kumari Radhika Rabji Patankar, Martyr Maharudra Kashinath Kundubale, Martyr Nagappa Basappa Phulari, Martyr Namdev Yadunath Vaijwade, Martyr Gangaram Bapu Khomane, Martyr VenkobaMahaduraNarayanpure, Martyr SatyanarayanSidapp Narayan Rao Ankatatra Hiral, Martyr Nagana Tiraksha Tehel, Martyr Nisrat Bapudhav Deshmukh, Martyr Naravan Venkatarao Hijan, Martyr Govindlal Ramakrishna, Martyr Chandrarao Dattatraya Patil, Ramlal Rabachandra Raheena, Maharudra Sadva Biradar, Gurulingaya Appaya Jangam, Hanmantrao Bawdha Holkar, Chandranath Laxman Kalal, Bajirao Balwantran Kulkarni and many more from Latur district sacrificed their life the liberation movement of Marathwada.
