Batool Begam – Folk Music Ambassador
Batool Begam is a living testament to the soul of Rajasthani folk music. With her mesmerising voice and deep understanding of traditional forms like Maand and Bhajan, she has revived the age-old sounds of Rajasthan and presented them to the world. What makes her performances extraordinary is not just the technical mastery but the message they carry — communal harmony, cultural pride, and storytelling rooted in India’s soil.
Over the past few decades, Batool has performed in over 56 countries, representing India in prestigious cultural festivals and forums. Her contribution goes beyond stage performances — she works actively to mentor young folk artists and collaborates with international musicians to blend traditional Rajasthani elements with global music forms. In 2025, she was conferred the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, acknowledging her indelible impact on the preservation and global promotion of Indian folk music.
Batool Begam continues to be a cultural bridge between the past and the present, showcasing the vibrant heritage of India through her art.
