Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar

‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ is a part of the broader initiative known as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) which celebrates 75 years of India's independence. As a pan-India initiative of the Ministry of Culture under National Mission on Cultural Mapping, it aims to bridge the past and the present, ensuring that the cultural wealth of Indian villages is preserved and appreciated in the modern age. By focusing on creating a comprehensive record of the unique traditions, practices, monuments, and historical narratives that form India's rural heritage, the ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ initiative strives to integrate the richness and rural cultural diversity into the national consciousness. By doing so, it hopes to foster a sense of pride and ownership among villagers, promote cultural tourism, and ensure the conservation of rural heritage for future generations. The mission further envisions on - documentation, preservation, awareness and engagement, and promotion of rural tourism as its core objectives. This section is a curation of the rustic gems that were discovered through the initiative.
