Gandhi Heritage Sites Mission

In April 2006, the Ministry of Culture established the Gandhi Heritage Sites Panel, chaired by Shri Gopalkrishna Gandhi, to identify and preserve significant sites associated with Mahatma Gandhi. The panel submitted its report on November 26, 2008, identifying 39 core sites and a Master List of 2,000 Gandhi-related locations. This led to the creation of the "Gandhi Heritage Sites Mission," officially established on July 29, 2013, with Shri Sailesh Kumar Bandopadhaya as chairman.
