Harvinder Singh – Para-Archer
Harvinder Singh etched his name in history at the 2024 Paralympic Games by becoming the first Indian to win gold in para-archery, marking a turning point for para-sports in the country. Born with an impairment due to adverse medical treatment as a child, Harvinder’s journey is one of incredible determination, discipline, and unyielding spirit.
Starting his training with limited resources, Harvinder rose through the ranks with sheer grit and technical prowess. His gold medal not only represents a personal victory but also a giant leap for India’s representation in international para-sports. His success has inspired a new generation of athletes, especially from rural and under-represented backgrounds.
Recognising his pioneering contribution, the Government of India conferred upon him the Padma Shri in 2025. Harvinder continues to advocate for accessibility in sports, inclusive training infrastructure, and dignity for para-athletes.
He is more than a champion; he is a symbol of how excellence knows no limitations.
