Johny Takkedasila (Telugu)
Johny Takkedasila, Born on June 8, 1991, in Pulivendula, Andhra Pradesh, Johny is a prominent Indian Telugu poet, novelist, critic, translator, and editor. With 23 books to his name, he has earned wide recognition for his impactful contributions to Telugu literature. In 2023, he received the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar for his critical work Vivechani.
Johny's writing often shines a light on pressing social issues, particularly those affecting marginalized communities. His five novels explore diverse and sensitive topics—from the struggles of the LGBTQ+ community in The Word That Can’t Cross My Mind to the lives of Muslim women in Ranku, the Devadasi system in God’s Wife, the endangered wooden bhajan art in Jadakopu, and the experiences of the Rajaka caste in Chakirevu.
His long poem Girls in Dark, published by Nyra Publications, adds to his reputation as a powerful storyteller. Johny's work spans multiple languages—Telugu, Hindi, and English—and his poetry and stories have appeared in international anthologies and magazines. Alongside his literary career, he heads the Telugu department for the Pratilipi literature app, continuing to influence and enrich contemporary Telugu literature.
