CARNATIC VOCAL MUSIC
Shrimati Gayatri Kamakoti was born on 15 December 1983 in Pondicherry. She received her training in Carnatic music from Shrimati Suguna Purushothaman and Shrimati Suguna Varadachari of the Musiri – Semmangudi Parampara.
A PhD in music and a recipient of scholarship from CCRT, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, Shrimati Gayatri has performed in many prestigious music festivals widely in the country and has participated in many seminars at various prestigious cultural institutions in the country.
She has received numerous titles and awards. These includes the Isai Arasi by Trinity Festival of Arts, the Kalarathna by Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival, the Isai Peroli by Kartik Fine Arts, the Sangeetha Sundaram by Bharathanjali Trust, the Sangeetha Shiromani by Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts, the Yuva Kala Bharathi bestowed by the Bharat Kalachar, and the Isai Chudar given by Karthik Fine Arts.
Shrimati Gayatri Kamakoti is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2022 for her notable talent in the field of Carnatic vocal music.
