Partho Roy Choudhury
HINDUSTANI INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC – SANTOOR
Shri Partho Roy Choudhury was born on 2 June 1983 at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. He received his initial training in Santoor from his father Shri Kumar Shankar Roy Choudhury of the Maihar Gharana and later groomed under the tutelage of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan of Senia- Bangash Gharana. He also received training in Hindustani Vocal music from Shri Mahadev Mishra and Shri Nalin Dholakiya.
A PhD in Music, and a B High Grade Artist of the All India Radio, Shri Partho has performed in many prestigious music festivals widely in the country. He is currently associated with The Doon School as the Head of Music Department.
Shri Partho Roy Choudhury is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2022 for his notable talent in the field of Hindustani instrumental Music – Santoor.
