CARNATIC INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC – VEENA
Shrimati Sahana S.V. was born on 4 April 1986 at Bhadravati in Karnataka. She received her initial training in Veena from Shri M.J. Srinivasa Iyengar, and later groomed under the tutelage of Shri T.N. Seshagopalan and Shri T.V. Gopalakrishnan in Mysore Bani of Veena.
A PhD in music, and an A Grade artist from the All India Radio and Doordarshan, she has received Junior and Senior Fellowship from the University Grants Commission and Scholarship in Performing Arts from Central and State Governments.
She has published many articles in reputed magazines and newspapers and also presented in seminars and conferences in India and overseas. Shrimati Sahana S.V. has many recordings to her credit.
Shrimati Sahana S.V. has received many titles and awards. These include the Raga Laya Prabha Award given by Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira, Bangalore; the Ananya Yuva Puraskar from Ananya Cultural Academy, Bangalore; and the Sri Gottuvadyam Narayana Iyengar Endowment award bestowed by Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai.
Shrimati Sahana S. V. is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2022 for her notable talent in the field of Carnatic instrumental music - Veena.
