Samit Mallick
HINDUSTANI VOCAL MUSIC - DHRUPAD
Shri Samit Mallick was born on 7 December 1983 at Darbhanga in Bihar. He received his training in Dhrupad music from his father Shri Ram Kumar Mallick of Darbhanga Gharana. He has a Ph.D degree in music from Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Bihar.
Shri Samit Mallick represents the 13th generation of the Darbhanga Gharana. He is an A Grade artist from the All India Radio and Doordarshan in the field of Dhrupad. Shri Samit Mallick is equally adept in other Hindustani vocal art forms such as Khayal, Thumri, Dadra as well as Bhajan and Vidyapati Sangeet. He has performed in many prestigious music festivals in India and abroad. He has many recordings to his credit.
Shri Samit Mallick is a recipient of numerous awards including the Bihar Kala Puraskar by the Government of Bihar; the Atal Gaurav Samman by Atal Foundation, New Delhi; the Surmani by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai; the 65th Annual Railway National Puraskar by Ministry of Railways, Government of India; and the Swami Vivekananda Excellence Award by OBC Commission, Government of NCT of Delhi.
Shri Samit Mallick is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2022 for his notable talent in the field of Hindustani vocal music (Dhrupad).
