Self Made Rani Baro (Bodo)
Rani Baro, born on June 2, 1997, in the remote village of No. 1 Shimlubari in Udalguri district, has emerged as a rising star in Bodo literature. Recently honored with the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2024 for her acclaimed short story Saikhlum, Baro's journey has been marked by perseverance and passion. Encouraged by her father from a young age, she excelled in academics, topping her HSLC exams and earning the Kamal Kumar Brahma DerhasatBantha award from the All Bodo Students Union.
Baro holds a BA in English and a Master’s degree from Bodoland University, Kokrajhar. Her literary works include Lafi Nozher Khither (2018), UndahaniOr (2000), and Saikhlum (2022). Inspired by writers like Sahitya Akademi recipient Rita Boro, she plans to publish more stories and novels in the near future.
She is currently employed as a Bodo translator in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Baro expressed her excitement about the award, stating that it will further motivate her to pursue her literary ambitions with even greater dedication.
