Manas Wildlife Sanctuary, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas in Assam, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stunning natural beauty and exceptional biodiversity. This sanctuary features a unique blend of alluvial grasslands, tropical forests, and wooded hills. It is a critical habitat for many endangered and rare species, including the Bengal tiger, Indian elephant, Indian rhinoceros, and the elusive pygmy hog. The sanctuary forms part of the Manas River basin and supports a rich variety of flora and fauna. Manas also serves as a Project Tiger reserve, an elephant reserve, and a biosphere reserve, highlighting its ecological importance.
