Qutb Minar and its Monuments

Delhi

The Qutb Minar and its Monuments, located in Delhi, represent a remarkable example of early Indo-Islamic architecture. Constructed in the early 13th century, the Qutb Minar is a soaring 72.5-meter-high red sandstone tower with striking fluted patterns. The surrounding complex includes historically significant structures such as the Quwwatu’l-Islam Mosque, the oldest mosque in northern India, and the intricately designed Alai Darwaza, built in 1311. Many of these monuments were built using materials from 20 dismantled Hindu temples, reflecting a unique architectural confluence. This UNESCO World Heritage Site captures the cultural and artistic legacy of medieval India.
