The Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka, nestled in the Vindhyan Hills, are a remarkable testimony to human prehistory in India. These five clusters of natural sandstone shelters feature over 700 rock paintings dating from the Mesolithic era to historical times. Discovered in 1957, the site reflects continuous human interaction with the landscape, showcasing scenes of daily life, hunting, and rituals. The nearby tribal villages preserve cultural traditions closely resembling those depicted in the artworks.
