Sundarbans National Park

West Bengal

Sundarbans National Park, located in the Ganges delta of West Bengal, is the world’s largest mangrove forest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site of immense ecological importance. Spanning both India and Bangladesh, this biodiverse haven is home to the iconic Royal Bengal Tiger, along with numerous rare and endangered species of reptiles, birds, and aquatic mammals. The intertidal zone of the Sundarbans, with its complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats, and small islands, supports an extraordinary variety of flora and fauna. Its unique ecosystem plays a crucial role in coastal protection, carbon sequestration, and sustaining the livelihoods of local communities.
